CCCC’s staff are hired on the basis of education, experience, and their ability to relate to young children. Our low staff turnover results in a high degree of stability for our children and the chance for them to form strong relationships with their caregivers.
Education, Background Checks, and Training
CCCC has 23 full and part-time staff members, some have completed bachelor’s degrees, some are current students in early childhood education or have completed associates’ degrees, while others have a strong interest in ECE or past experience. All employees have passed a criminal history background check, as required by the State of Oregon Childcare Division. All classroom staff maintain current first aide/CPR certification and must hold a current Oregon Food handler’s permit, and receive Recognizing Child Abuse Training, Safe Sleep Training, Foundations for Learning training, and Health & Safety Training.
All staff members participate in at least 15 hours of continuing education annually, through CCCC’s in-service program as well as outside classes and workshops. Staff are encouraged to enroll in Pathways and Professional Development Registry; county and state systems implemented to recognize and reward the training and experience of childcare professionals.
